Plans & billing

Alpacon offers a Free plan and paid plans (Essentials and Enterprise) that raise your workspace’s limits and unlock additional features. For the full plan lineup, prices, and included limits, see the Alpacon pricing page.

This page covers what you see and do inside the product: where to manage your plan, what happens when you reach a limit or a locked feature, and how payments work.

Where to manage your plan

Plan and billing live inside workspace settings.

  1. In the left sidebar, click Workspace settings. This entry is only shown to Staff and Superuser members.
  2. Open Plan & billing > Usage.

The Usage page shows everything about your current plan and consumption. If you don’t have permission, the page shows a message explaining that you can’t view billing information.

What the Usage page shows

  • Current plan — your plan name and, during a trial, a Trial badge. Change plan opens the Alpacon billing page in a new browser tab. Alongside it you’ll see your renewal (or trial end) date, your member and server allowances, and any available credit.
  • Usage this period — meters for Active users, Active servers, Websh session usage time, and FTP file transfer volume, each with a link to the matching page for details.
  • Estimated month-to-date cost — a per-service breakdown with any overage, plus subtotal, credit applied, tax, and total. The Billing period for these figures is shown at the top of the page.

The cost shown here is an estimate. The final invoice is issued at the end of each billing period and may differ.

What happens at a limit or a gate

When you reach a plan limit or open a feature your plan doesn’t include, Alpacon shows an upgrade dialog. It names the plan that unlocks the feature, summarizes what you gain, and links to the pricing page. Staff and Superuser members can continue to the billing page to change the plan; other members are asked to contact an admin. The action you attempted isn’t completed until the plan is upgraded.

The table below is qualitative. For the exact numbers behind each limit and the features each plan includes, see the pricing page.

Payments and invoices

Alpacon shows your plan, current-period usage, and an estimated month-to-date cost inside the workspace. Changing your plan and completing payment happen on the Alpacon billing page, which opens in a new browser tab when you select Change plan on the Usage page or Upgrade in an upgrade dialog. If a free trial is available for your workspace, the dialog offers to start it instead. For Enterprise, contact support@alpacax.com.

Who can manage billing

  • View plan and usage — Staff and Superuser members. Other members don’t see the Plan & billing menu.
  • Change the plan — Staff and Superuser members can continue to the billing page. If another member reaches a locked feature, they’re prompted to contact an admin rather than upgrade directly.

Self-hosted deployments

Plan, usage, and billing apply to Alpacon Cloud. On self-hosted deployments the Plan & billing menu, usage meters, and cost estimate aren’t shown.
