Users

A user is a person with access to your workspace. Each user has a workspace role of User, Staff, or Superuser that decides what they can do in Alpacon, plus a username that becomes their account on the servers they connect to. Users live under IAM > Users.

What you can do here

  • Invite team members: send email invitations or let people from an allowed email domain join automatically, and track invitations that are still pending.
  • View and edit users: search and filter the user list, open a user’s detail page, change their role, edit their profile, and reset a password.
  • Username management: set the UNIX username a person uses when connecting to servers, and approve requested changes.
  • Remove users: understand what normal and purge deletion each leave behind, work through the pre-removal checklist, and choose between deactivating and removing.
  • Resolve username conflicts: fix UID conflicts between an existing system account on a server and an Alpacon user.

Reviewing access

A user’s detail page has an Activity tab recording what they did and a Roles tab showing what they were granted. Workspace roles only cover Alpacon itself, so pair them with group membership to see which servers a person can actually reach. Removals are recorded in the audit log.
