Manage files and folders

Manage files and folders in WebFTP.

File actions

Each item has a (kebab) menu with the available actions:

  • Download — save the item to your computer
  • Copy / Paste — copy an item, then paste it into a folder
  • Rename — change the name
  • Permission — change permissions and ownership (Linux servers only); see Set file permissions
  • Delete — remove the item (this can’t be undone)

Create a folder

Click New > New folder, enter a name, and confirm.

Move items

Select one or more items and choose Move from the selection toolbar. A destination picker opens—browse to the target folder and confirm with Move.

Browse

  • Breadcrumbs — click any path segment to jump to that folder.
  • Root — the hard-drive icon jumps to the root directory (/).
  • Hidden files — toggle whether hidden files and folders are shown.

Platform notes

  • Permissions and ownership can be changed on Linux servers only—the action is hidden on Windows and macOS servers.
  • Symbolic links can’t be downloaded, copied, or moved; open the link’s target instead.
