# Download files

Download files and folders from a server to your local computer.

## Download a file

1. Open the file's **⋮** (kebab) menu in WebFTP
2. Click **Download**
3. The file saves to your browser's download folder

## Multiple items and folders

Select multiple items to download them together. Folders are downloaded as a compressed archive—the transfer status panel shows a **Compressing** step before the download begins.

Symbolic links can't be downloaded directly; open the link's target instead.

## Transfer status

The transfer status panel shows progress per item and lets you cancel an in-progress download.
