Create groups

Create groups to organize users and manage access permissions.

What are groups?

User groups bundle multiple users together for server access management.

Use cases:

  • Team-based server access (frontend-team, backend-team)
  • Project-based organization (project-alpha, project-beta)
  • Role-based separation (developers, admins, viewers)

How to create

  1. Go to IAM > Groups
  2. Click New group button
  3. Enter group information:
    • Name: Name the group will use on servers (e.g., developers-team)
    • Display name: Group identifier name (e.g., Developers Team)
    • Description: Description of group purpose (optional)
  4. Click Save

Naming rules

  • Use lowercase, numbers, hyphens(-), underscores(_)
  • No spaces allowed
  • Use meaningful names
